Your comparison of a car to this game is really apples to oranges.
As has been suggested, there are work-arounds to the problems you've described. You can still play this game. If your car doesn't start, it's useless.
Also, I can't see that anyone would ever spend anywhere near what they would spend on a car. The investment dictates the level of expectation.
I'm not being apologetic for WGT, I just have a certain level of expectation when it comes to this game. Yeah, I spend money here, but I don't have to. I also don't have to play this game either. I am free to walk away. I play the game as is. If I find a problem, I try to work around it.
Take the replay issue that was recently resolved. Replays were triggered in multi-player stroke play matches. To avoid the bug and still enjoy the game, I tended to play other types of games or I'd play a stroke game by myself. I had confidence that the WGT staff knew this was a serious issue and it would be resolved as soon as possible.
The alt-shot lobby thing, yeah, it can be a pain, so just start over. So it took a couple minutes of your life that you'll never get back. If you can't afford those couple of minutes, then what are you doing playing an online game? And since you can start over, it's not as high a priority on the bug list as the replay bug was.
What I find amusing is how you go from an issue with multiple work-arounds to "...an online game that is so difficult to get started is a major and
fundamental flaw and is a sad indictment as to the contempt that the
Producers of this game display to it's customers." How in the world did you draw that straight line?
