the other day I was playing a 2some on a course and another player got stuck behind a scrub brush in real life I would have taken a stroke and dropped a ball. it would seem that wgt should make it so there is an option for a ball drop in such circumstances

There are limits to what WGT can program into the game, and if it can be programmed there are business considerations to adding or not a adding a feature.

As it is, it's an online game so there are also limits on how 'real' it can be made.

Not having an unplayable lie is pretty lame.  It would be extremely simply to implement an option to rehit from the same spot.

They have been enacting a "no options" policy from the beginning but weakened it with the Gimme and the Mulligan. With regard to Unplayables, the Mulligan is a partial answer: Rehit the shot from the original place. This is the easy part, I agree.

Alas, I can imagine good reasons not to use the Mulligan to this extent:

The golf purists, demanding the full execution of the rules, would protest to get the other options, "within 2 club lengths" and "back on the line to the flag". These being very difficult to program - imagine all the mapping involved - might hold them back.

And, giving one option would ignite other demands: ball changes, water dropping, ...
