    Hi there...

i am new to that game, but i was playing a bit of Golfstar... now i have a few questions:

    Gameplay:

Rough etc... : if i do see 20-25% Lie, do i have to calculated less, so that means if i do see 100yds... the shot will go approximately 75-80yds or how is the exact calculation?

In one tutorial someboday was saying that if a PW shows 90yds in neutral conditions, that this would be including roll... is that correct? My shots will than go too far

Uneven lie: where do i see if i am uphill or downhill at the ball of my lie, to adjust the shot power or direction or will that not beeing calculated in that game?

Tournaments/credtis: i see a lot of tournaments like free ones with unlimited tries like goflnow etc... is that a way to get free credits also or just with paying or the loooong way of survey etc..?

Virtual US OPEN: What exactly is that? Is it a game in the game or just a kind of a series?

    Welcome in WGT!

    1) ROUGH  The percentage to add when hittng from rough (or other places where the lie is shown) depend on the clubs and balls u r using. Higher the quality of yr equipment and lower the effect of the lie. In yr tier, roughly keep valid some less than the first number (let's say 15y in yr example. So, for running 100y you have to hit about 115y. The exact calculation doesn't exist. Practice is the best way to know how to make a shot. A suggestion: not all the holes, lies etc. are the same, not all the shots in same conditions run at the same distance. Write notes for every holes and yr game will improve a lot.

    2) The balls roll depends as well on the ground, on the ball, on the spin, on the wind ect. Practice and notes are the magic wand.

    3) You have to play the free tournaments in order to gain credits for buying better equipment. Any tournament have prizes shown in the lobby of each tournament. You can also gain free credits watching video ads, completing surveys, downloading software or buying something you need from offers shown in "GET CREDITS" up left .

    Bye

    Welcome x2!

You will find this game different from other golf games.

First, if you have not done so, watch the "How to..." videos that WGT has provided - they are very brief but will give you an idea about how to game works.

Second, if you have not read the FAQ's (on the right hand side of this screen), it would be a good idea to do so. Forget about "Scoring and Awards" sections for now - there are some really good tips in the FAQs.

Third, look on the right hand side of the screen for a box labeled "SEARCH" - When you have a more specific question, you can enter it there and be shown a list of posts discussing your issue.

Don't get frustrated, this is a challenging adventure - smile and enjoy it!

In uneven lies, the squares around the player and around the "spin" ball down right show the unevenness - colours showing how severe. Of course this influences ball movement.

There's a good "Uneven Lies Tutorial" in the forums - have a search!

I doubt that any player can make credits in tournaments without good equipment - it's rather "buy and win" than "win to buy". Unfortunately for Joe Average there are many "talented" players around who are always at the top, some of them suspicious of second and third lives, i.e. multi-accounters.

Virtual Tour: a yearlong, heavily sponsored tourney series, see in the FAQ, read their T&Cs in the "Tournament" section.

Beware of a VERY common mistake here, the numbers (20/25 in your example) give NO indication of how hard to hit the ball despite what MANY players here think. What they indicate is how much of the ball is buried in that particular non-fairway surface. You will have to hit the ball harder but how much harder has much more to do with what you're hitting it from,

sand > rough > deep rough > fescue > light brush > deep brush > mulch

If you hit a sand shot with the same strength as a mulch shot you'll be lucky to move it at all, especially with starter clubs.

The trick is there is no trick, practice and take notes, if you want to remember how hard to hit a shot note down what you did this time for the next time. It's no secret that all the great players here have hundreds of pages of notes.
