Just had this nice new laptop dropped on me by my employer.

Dell Latitude e7240. Ok it has some nice stats, on board graphics could stand an upgrade, but has an i7 processor, ssd hard-drive, 8 gig of Ram etc. The thing weighs about 2 lbs, 12 inch screen is a bit small.

My current personal laptop is a Dell XPS 17 inch screen, 2 graphics cards oodles of ram ets etc, nice gaming machine but it weighs in at about 15lbs.

So I get the work rig all set up for email etc and thought lets give WGT a go on this thing. Update the flash, download my favorite firefox etc.

Gave WGT a go and after 2 swipes at the meter, it's jittery and unplayable IMHO. Since being used to smooth as butter no way I could get used to this. So below are the steps I took and the results i got.

    1. Although work would not appreciate, I go to control panel and stop all the crap. Meter still jittery.

    2. Although work would not appreciate it, I go to control panel and uninstall all the crap. Meter still jittery.

    3. Install ccleaner run clean everything Meter still jittery.

    4. Graphics card settings and power options time, turn everything up to as high performance as I can, Fu-ck the battery, suck it dry, I set in the settings, crank this puppy as high as it will go, hydro fire up an extra reactor this laptop is coming to play. Meter smooth as butter.

There you go, it can be done, the perfect meter.

Hope this helps anyone having meter issues.

Could this be an indication that meter problems aren't caused by WGT?

Nah, he must be an apologist.

    Good work, slillico.

The issue is windows 8 if so equipped.  Not browser/flash related.    Google it

Agree. The first thing i think when i see these posts are:

    1. What operating system

    2. What browser

    3. Mouse settings/drivers

Parts in the computer have almost no control over the meter. My desktop has has an overclocked i7, 16gb ram and a video card that runs any FPS on high settings. The meter on it is crap and ive played for hours trying to get it right.

Instead I play on a Dell Latitude D620 laptop that is probly close to 10 years old. The meter is perfect almost all the time. I only get issues when Skype or Mirc start acting up or people on them are spamming me. :)

Well the new laptop has windows 7, and i just spent the last 2 hours trying to get a mouse to work, something I have not had to do for the last year on windows 8. I finally just gave up and plugged in the old one. The mouse worked until windows updated then gone. i have done to much already to just restore, so in the trash the mouse goes.

IMHO and in my experience, windows 8 is about a billion times better then all previous versions of Windows.

Already crashed as well, brought back out memories.

Windows 8 has an easy learning curve once the win 7 GUI is returned and never crashes and never needs to restart to break something else whenever something gets installed.

I'm sick of this thing already, just installing a freaking mouse has to be such a chore.

Yep, you would think a commodor 64 could run the meter, but nope, even my high end alienware desktop with $2000 worth of graphics cards still needed a little help to get a smooth meter. I can race and shoot Germans like they were in the room the resolution being the highest the game will allow and never even a studder, but yet still get a choppy meter without a little nudge.

The nudge always seems to be in the direction of the quality settings, not lower either, but highest they can go.

    I play on a 2005 Dell Optiplex GX620 with 3.49 GB's of ram....smooth meter 99% of the time.

Gents I have been battling this issue for over a year on my Win 8 Lenovo, Doing a lot of research lately and the biggest issues with Win 8 users is the keyboard mouse issues that have plagued the OS from the beginning. 2 patch updates later and it has gotten worse.

    https://www.google.com/#q=windows+8+mouse+and+keyboard++issues+and+gaming

So I decided to drop win 8x64  and installed win 7x64 ultimate ed this past month and the results are meh, still getting the mouse lagg.  Shame that I shoot better rounds with my 7 year old dual core 2.0 vista , 1 gig mem.  But when I use the laptop to play NFSW online, a racing simulation game it never misses a beat. The saga continues.

I did some testing. Ever hear of a speed test?

Over time I have learned how to slow this thing down..

. At fully optimized, My DLS is 22.8 mbs.And my ULS is 2.8.

Now the DLS is what's important here, Once it got down to 2 MBS, Things started to. Get degraded. Slow download. Between holes. The meter gets funny.

But started to get back to normal at 2.5 MBS... So do a speed check. If it is below (your DLS)

2.5 MBS. Your problems are  between you. And your provider. Most likely you..

You need to get your DLS up. The higher the better.

I got WiFi connection at home, also linked to my garden outside when it works cos its 50 yds away

I got a dogs B@ll@cks PC at home. my daughter has a I pad and GF some other tablet.

My netbook, with 1GB of ram and a cr@ppy graphics card link up to my TV, 50incher, outside in my small homely bar in the garden to a stupid dongle from my telephone provider at max 3gand I get a better meter than on everything else at home which is supposed to be better, faster, blah blah

There is no setup, its pure luck. If setup was the case, explain one game where the meter is perfect, no jumps, no dithering or whatever, another game where u hit the button and the meter runs 1cm past and then on the next game it just perfect, all within the space of say 1 hour?

It aint about your equipment at home, its the servers stuck throughout the world, their overload capacity, or lack of, amount of players on line, blah blah blah

WGT has millions of terryabytes of space, but if a few hundred thousand players overload the closest site, it all goes out the window

Same as a works server, too many users, not enough capacity, reduced graphics, download, etc. How to improve, buy or invest in better servers and stuff. WGT?
