    DrSlick:
Thanks for the advice - keep it coming - Well, I see a decent 3W at a decent level anyways - BUT - no irons - lol.

I say get the Nikes, learn them inside and out until you can get the 97 Nikes. I had R11s from day 1 and the Nikes trump them bigtime. Huge factor is being able to have the meter speeds match from the 3W to the PW plus the cheaper 33 Callaway ball is a great fit.  :-)

    Jim:

I do have the L85 Nikes and have spent alot of credits on balls mapping them out - they seem to work best for me with the L45 cally legend, L48 and L61 Nikes. For me anyways, any ball over 3.5 spin seems to be very fussy. I have mapped the L85s out pretty well and can post some occassional 59s with them.

However, they just seem to be inconsistent even in the face of a round where I am dinging consistently. With the Bladez, when I hit the ding, you just knew it would be a dart. With the L85s they will tease you by throwning 3 darts in a row and then 2 or 3 holes of "wth" happened there with the ding.

I see that now. I misread your post and after reading it again I would say the same thing unless you were to commit to the R11's until level 97. This is probably your best move given how long it will take you to get to 97 simply because that's a lot of golf and those irons will change your game. If something comes out in the meantime, and nobody's going to know, worry about it then. Waiting for the grass to get greener on the other side is not going to help you.

The big plus with the R11's is the ability of the 3, 4 and 5 irons to handle the longer approaches from the back tees. The Nikes expounded on this and made the 6-PW act the same way. The biggest minus is the meter speed compared to what you're used to-they're faster and it takes a little to get used to that but they're worth it.

I would be amazed if you had a problem with the meter of the L90 R11s, but a free rental weekend (Masters may be coming up so...)

I have never used the L85 Nikes.  Some good players that have felt the L90 R11s were a step up.  Just looking at the specs the extra spin, and a Nike ball will allow closer distance to the pin with long iron approaches and especially up slope ones.

    DrSlick:
So, if the R11s can get me from 62's to maybe 59/60's more often - they would be worth the upgrade.

IMHO those L97 Nikes are icing on icing.  Nice to have and look at.  OK a slower meter on the L97 Nikes.  And yep I was more comfortable with a slower meter Nike using the L90 R11s, but others though that was too slow a combo...v personal.

Main point is those L90 R11s irons will allow the top scoring possible in this game - period.  Like I say your stats suggest good progression, if may say, and I think your game would fully exploit them pretty quick.

    DrSlick:
HOWEVER, like I said previously, I don't want to buy them and then in the next month have wgt come out with something newer and potentially better than the R11s

Geez who knows.  The R11s and L97s are so very close scoring potential wise, if there is any gap some would say, and so where is the room IMO?........I could see them bringing out a limited edition L97 set a few rungs down at whatever extra....If Nike ever produced a limited edition set I am sure that would happen.....I would be pi$$ed if they pulled the L90s from the shop, and had to wait until L97 to get the top irons though.  I would hope they do not as it would be so very bad for the game IMHO as the 90s are so  hard to get through anyway, and especially after L93 the XPs are way far apart (L99 is over 2m XPs)........Dunno what to say here mate, save good luck with the game and hit em straight:)

Thanks for the opinions all - they are all appreciated. If WGT doesn't come out with anything soon, I will probably take a shot at the R11s. Hoping for a free weekend rental for the master's perhaps so I can test out the meter, although I don't think I will fear it too much. Would like to see some Ping irons though that are a step of from the L83 and hopefully better or the same as the R11s with less meter speed. But, I am likely asking too much - lol.
