Hi Doug. I didn't see this thread when you first posted it but I did in fact start a spreadsheet last week where I am recording every birdie and eagle I make across all courses. I know it's a bit sad but I wanted to see how the holes compare to the stroke index given. I also wanted to see where I made most of my birdies.
We can all guess pretty accurately at what holes give up the most birdies and 6 days in I don't see any real surprises to be frank. Below are the top five holes in terms of my birdies in the last 6 days across St Andrews, Kiawah & Bethpage. All of these are from the Legend tees;
St Andrews.
14th - 12 birdies, 1 eagle
9th - 10 birdies, 2 eagles
5th - 12 birdies
12th - 12 birdies
1st - 9 birdies
Kiawah Island.
11th - 12 birdies
1st - 10 birdies
7th - 8 birdies, 1 eagle
3rd - 7 birdies
2nd - 6 birdies
Bethpage Black.
1st - 10 birdies
4th - 10 birdies
2nd - 8 birdies, 1 eagle
3rd, 6th & 13th - 6 birdies
The toughest holes to date or ones that have yielded the fewest birdies are;
St Andrews - 4th, 13th & 17th - all 2 birdies.
Kiawah Island - 4th, 5th & 18th - all just 1 birdie each.
Bethpage Black - 12th & 15th with no birdies and the 5th, 7th & 16th with just one each.
Obviously 6 days isn't long enough to judge completely but I don't see much changing in regard to the toughest holes, no real surprises in any of them. The biggest surprise to me is that the total number of birdies and eagles on Kiawah and Bethpage are nearly identical. Kiawah totals 76 birdies, 1 eagle. Bethpage totals 70 birdies and 2 eagles. St Andrews is by far and away the easiest as we all know and this is borne out with 126 birdies and 4 eagles, miles ahead of the other 2 courses.
