I didn't know the Cutter & Buck brand before their sponsored tournament, but I will forever remember them now. Negatively. A month of play on St George before the final round with wind never before seen on any course. It was just nuts. Yeah, I'm whining, bruised, beaten. But that was just cruel.

yah, it was tough - especially when those 28 and 30's are sideways - hump hunting woes here too lol.

gl all - and 30 is pretty typical heavy wind condition at rsg i think.  kinda fun(ny) :)

30 mph wind on RSG is in the normal Heavy Wind zone. Seen it plenty of times.

LOL I play RSG a lot and birdie #1 4 of 5 times...

Played that tourny and my 165 club went 167 in a 21 mph headwind...

Then a 135 with topspin went 143 into a 18 mph headwind....made 5 attempts, every shot went to almost exactly the same spot on the green 25 ft from the pin, bogied #1, 5 times(of course not realizing it was slower greens didn't help) leftand never looked back....I never got off of #1 lol...

I'm sure it would be easier on reverse VEM day but I'll pass....

Playing in those crazy wind conditions is (almost) fair.  I say almost because, I believe, everyone gets completely different random wind directions and speeds (although the speeds are within a certain range).  The problem is a hole can play up to +- .25 strokes or so with severe winds.  If you get a string of really bad luck and someone else gets a string of really good luck, you could be spotting 4 strokes.  Granted, that's the extreme, but it wouldn't be unusual at all to be giving up a stroke or two.

But that's (almost) besides the point.  Playing in those conditions, in my opinion, simply isn't fun.
