    Hello WGT community,

I have been playing about 2 weeks and made it to lvl38 Pro. After playing the qualifier on Pinehurst #2 (which is unfair with starter clubs I might add), I was looking to upgrade my clubs but wanted to know how much different 4.0 meter speed is as compared to 3.5 and 3.0 useing the free ball? Are there any videos out that can be watched? Due to medical issues I am on a budget and cannot afford to buy multiple sets. I was looking at the R11's, K15s, Rocketballs (good price with wedges included) at my level. If I don't like my choice how much would the set sell for? Thanks in advance for your help on this matter!

I would wait until you get to level 59 and get the Ping G25s.  They are the first iron set at that level with high trajectory, which makes all the difference in the world on elevated courses.  The med/high trajectory irons just do not stick well, and you will have a lot of trouble getting on the greens on the more difficult courses without high trajectory irons.   I've played 50 consecutive days and finally I am reaching level 59 today and will be buying them.  I've used the starter irons up until this point.

If you decide to go with the med/high clubs and you do not like them, you can only sell them back to the pro shop for 25% of their original value.  As far as meter speed, 4.0 is not a huge difference to 3.5....once you get to 3.0 and below its a big increase in speed IMO.

My advice would be to buy some wedges first.  They will make the biggest difference in your game immediately.  Either the lvl 38-39 ATV's or the lvl 41-42 Pings will serve you good.  Get 2 right now, a 64 degree and a 60.  Then once you buy your irons, drop the hybrid and add a 3rd wedge to your bag and account for the spacing between your PW and your 3rd wedge.  For example, if you get the G25 irons, the PW will be 115 yards, So make sure the 3rd wedge you buy is between 90-100 yards.  Space your wedges 15-25 yards apart from each other and learn to use the punch shot to fill the gaps in your yardage.   Also, balls make a huge difference.  Even the little 43 credit balls are a lot better than the starter balls.  The spin on the ball and the trajectory of the ball makes it much easier to play with.

Believe me, I know it is very hard to wait to get new irons but that would be my advice. Just play at least 9 holes everyday and get your consecutive days played bonus of 880 xp everyday and you will be to level 59 sooner than you realize.   I didn't expect to get there until middle of June, but I am gonna get there today and I will be buying the Ping G25 irons later today.  It is definitely worth the wait to get the high trajectory irons.  If you look at the pro shop, basically everything above level 59 irons are all high trajectory and for good reason.  They are much superior irons.

While you are waiting to level up, take this time to learn how to use all the different types of shots in your arsenal.  Punch, Pitch, Flop, Chip.   I hated the flop shot when I first started.  Since i bought my ping wedges, I have learned really how to hit the flop shot and it is absolutely deadly now for me within 30 yards.

Good luck and I hope this helped, as I had many of the same questions as you when I started out.

Great advice there CJ, spot on as far as I would recommend , one point, you don't need play a full 9 holes to get your consecutive daily play bonus, just go to WGT COMMUNITY at the top of the page then GOLF COURSES, choose one and then choose one hole , play that and you get your daily bonus :-)

Thanks for the great advice. You made so many great points I think that I will wait on the clubs till 59 and will look for the high trajectory. I have a follow up question, I would like to get your opinion on. The current starter set has 3 different meter speeds 4, 4.5, and 5 which seems to cause me a lot of ding inconsistency. I seem to be most consistent using the 4.0 club. I have noticed that all the good wedges and higher level clubs are 3.0 meter speed except for the Max. Do you think it would be a good idea to get a complete set at the 3.0 meter speed and learn to hit them. Then deal with the rogue putter speed because most of them are 4.5 and 5 unless I missed it. Thanks again for your opinion on this, you have already been a great help.

I just wanted to report back.  I got my G25s and played 9 holes and they are definitely worth the wait.  I am by no means a great player but these will really shave the strokes off your game.  I have been struggling as of late and let me tell you these high trajectory irons are night and day to the medium or medium high.  I was at the point where I felt helpless on a difficult hole before when I was hitting a 4 iron because i knew it was just gonna hit the green and just bounce 10 yards into the rough.  These irons change everything.  They make the ball fly so nice and high and land softly.   Worth the wait if you can!

Congrats, I am glad you are happy with them! I hope to be there soon. The frustration of long par 4s and tight pins is mounting!

I didn't notice that.  You're right.  I guess wgt took it away when they updated the new ping wedges.  That's a shame as it was a great wedge at 200 credits.  I guess he should go for the lvl 39 ATV 64.  I have heard great things about that club.  I'm sure you could tell him quite a bit about it MB, as i saw you have it in your bag and your are a lvl 97.  Maybe you should tell me about that club too lol.  I may have to buy it.

Another good way is to play a random 3 practice round. It only takes a few minutes more than playing 1 hole from the community page. I now get my consecutive day bonus every night at work during my lunch hour by playing a random 3 on my Iphone 4s.
