    I am very much in the camp that see's this as something that could eventually be a very good idea.  As it stands I think a mod confirmed it's essentially window dressing as the variables were in place anyway.  Away from any arguments that are created with the change as it stands I did some delving.

    Lets look at the current RSG forecast:

    Notice the GUSTING:)

    OK now Merion:

    Source for Merion here.

    I also looked at Cabo, and pretty very benign at the moment.  Most variation I could see was on Saturday and 5 MPH gusting 10MPH here; Oak is benign too with 4 MPH gusting 9MPH the very most I could find here; Going to St As and as we would expect things are currently benign for there with Friday being first the wind gets interesting this week;

    Enough of a snap shot for this I think.

    The wind and gusting aspect raise two interesting points for me:

    First it shows what utter rot the variable winds are here.  High wind RGs with winds so massively variable for all in the field is the stuff only of cartoon golf.  Privately I just do not believe even the mods think that's a good idea.

    The gusting aspects though raise some other room for manoeuvre.  If WGT could start to get more of a real life replica going I think it would solve several issues.  Beth Page F9 and you could be facing 12MPH gusting 19MPH Friday Arvo

    Implemented here surely this would increase distance to pin, and start to make scores a little more realistic.  Heck who could argue if a RG said playing Friday, and forecast is same as IRL so don't go whining about the gusts being not fair:)......Any one with a distance to pin average of 9 feet would only be playing playing fair courses on fair wind days.  An 11 feet distance to pin would just say they are a fair weather golfer, nothing more or less.  RSG for instance can be way more brutal than the current forecast as goes without saying etc.....

    Note this is not intended as cheating thread, but it might have a nice side effect of aiding spotting that scum for WGT to deal with.  I will leave any reference to that side of things there as I only want to focus on potential positives.

    If WGTs new only slightly variable (from what I have seen having just played a couple of rounds so far since) is more than just window dressing, or they can do more then something to consider.

    I have no clue how easy or hard this would be to get going, but it would have my yes vote.

    Main point done, and slightly hesitating lets move to VEM lol.  Now I quickly watched a YouTube video talking distance rating.  Not suggesting it should be exactly replicated as no clue as to wind etc, but as a general idea strikes me as a good way to move forward.

    Get Shoe out there to test an iron, and we can see well enough what the expected travel variation will be for average distance.

    Throw this is in with the above RL wind behaviour, confirm VEM (just so it ends it lol) is past tense and Bob's ya Uncle / Fanny's ya aunt:) ???

    Source here.

    Appreciate some / all of the above is wishful say the least, but never know som eof it v if don't suggest???
