Hey folks, I'm looking for some help since I can't play since the latest update. I'm running old Linux Ubuntu 12.10, 32-bit. My info with the "Play Now" button is blank on the firefox browser. I've tried to launch the flash browser using other "Play Now" links in my CC. It tells me to "get Adobe flash player" in the top right of said flash browser. I am using the latest available update to my system (11.2.202.378) and this is the only site I'm having an issue with. I won't be online for the long weekend up here but any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Cheers,

    Justin

    Hey Justin,

I had the same issue.  So far, I've found a couple of decent options...unfortunately, neither of them involve Firefox due to its lack of a Flash version past 11.2.xxx.  To be honest though, I find Chromium a better browser for gameplay.

Anyway, your two options to get playing again:

    1.  Install Google Chrome...even the Linux versions come with the latest Flash.  A drawback is that the software is coming from Google, not Ubuntu, so it's all third-party and hasn't been vetted.  Walkthrough for Chrome install.

    2.  Install Pepper Flash and you can use Chromium instead.  Pepper will be a current version and should work for WGT.  You might have to install Chromium since it doesn't come pre-loaded, but it should be in the software centre, so it's an easy "one-click" procedure.  Walkthrough for Pepper Flash.

I currently have Chrome installed and working...but I'm going to install Pepper as well so I'll update you on how that plays out. (update - it works perfectly - and really simple to do)  If I was picking only one option, it would probably be #2, simply because of the third-party thing.  Less potential for messing up the system that way.

Anyway, if any of this gets you back up and running, just drop me off a two-four and we'll call 'er square.   ;-)

    Hey Jerm,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Option #1 is a last resort. Option #2 is stuck on the 3rd terminal entry with the "Unable to locate package pepflashplugin-installer" error. I searched around for a hour or so, to no avail.

I will try again when i get some time to do so.

    Thanks again,

    Justin

Thanks Fatdan but I removed the dualboot option last year.

Sorry it didn't work for you Justin...I've got some Newfie b'ys coming over this weekend and that skid would have come in right handy.  ;-)

The Pepper Flash walkthrough worked seamlessly for me, although I'm on 64-bit 12.04, so maybe the difference in versions is causing some issues?

Whatever the case, at least you're back up and running.  Hopefully your meter's tolerable as well?  That was one of my concerns....that I'd get a browser back up and running and the meter would be unplayable.  I'm usually fairly optimistic like that...  ;-)

    Jerm,

I'm running Mint 17 on an old laptop, until June, WGT ran great (more or less) regardless of what browser I used, FF, Chrome, Chromium or Opera.   I noticed things went south after a bit of a hiatus from the game when I logged in last week.   It seems that it's the same flash problem that you're discussing.  I followed your instructions, and in Chromium the only problem, although a big one, is that when you max the screen, the meter, club selection etc at the bottom of the game client aren't visible.   In Chrome, that isn't the problem, it's that whenever the screen is maxed, the camera buttons, reverse view buttons, the non max buttons don't work, and the club selections screen acts oddly, you point at the 5i and it gives you data for your 8i.   The game won't run in FF or Opera, the flash problem, I suppose.  Have you or anyone else seen this problem and know of a fix or workaround?  Thanks for any help you can give me.

Installing Fresh Player plugin worked for me.

    Basically it boils down to:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get install freshplayerplugin

but if you don't trust me (you shouldn't, with this sort of thing) you'll find a full discussion on this PCWorld page, and you can copy the commands from there.

I'm running Kubuntu 14.04, and with Opera (and Chrome) it worked right off.

    This fixed Firefox.
