Hi all ...
As many of you know, I've been real big on getting a better form of handicapping CC members together for this game.
Back in January, there was a few handicap discussions where most agreed that there should be a standard "net par" (course rating) used for every course to determine a player's score differential. Since there was no slope rating we could use, we simply chose to ignore the slope rating all together.
Since joining a new country club in May, I have been working on creating a better handicap routine. So this last week, I obtained the last full year's weekly single-round 18 hole tournaments played here. For the "Best of Par" courses, I used the tournaments that were available.
I then took the top 50 scores from the tour legends to create the "Course Rating" for all of the courses (from the tips). I also took all of the scores for each other tier to create a "bogey rating". Using these bogey ratings and yardages from each tee, I created a formula to determine the slope ratings and other course ratings for the shorter tees.
Here's a link to the report for all of the courses currently available to the CC's as well as Cabo and Whistler. The only course I was not able to rate was Pinehurst. Once I have enough data, I will amend this report and add Pinehurst.

Since May, I've ran several mock reports as I made changes to my handicapping spreadsheet. After completing my new handicap spreadsheet that incorporated the course and slope ratings, I am extremely pleased with the results.
For those of you that are doing some form of handicapping in your CC, I think you'll find this method will work better than a "one course rating fits all" approach.
