Our Club is having an UNEVEN Lie Tournament at Merion.  It has become apparent that a ball in the deep rough or at an extreme angle in a bunker is sometimes impossible to play out without multiple muffed shots.  In real golf when a player determines that his or her ball is in an unplayable lie, they are allowed to take a 1 stroke penalty drop no nearer the hole and on the same line of flight.  This simple option should be included in WGT menu options.  I had a one under Round going before suffering the above described situation which forced me into ending my UnEven Round.  Please, please consider the Unplayable Lie, One Shot Penalty Drop Option.  Thank you, Wayne Jones, owner of Golfers Haven Country Club.

I'm not a member of a club, but making a poor shot on sixteen at Merion into the deep brush cost me an opportunity to continue to play in a "pay to play" bracket tournament. An unplayable lie drop would be welcomed me as well, even if it required me to lose a ball.

This has been negated by WGT short time ago. In general, the game doesn't allow for any options by design.

Maybe they don't want to use the existing Mulligan feature because players would demand the other options, too, with tremendous variations.

They do not have any problem providing a penalty for water or OB and resetting to the follow-up shot position; so why not an "Unplayable Lie" option for players?  Seems very doable.  Of course with the new owners, any chance of that may be nil.  Sorry I took so long getting back to this strand.  wpjones.

In the Rules of Golf there are 3 options:  dropping within 2 club lengths; dropping on a  straight line from the hole through the ball; or hitting another shot from the spot where the original shot was taken. Which one should WGT use?  I am sure that since the player is the one to decide if it is an unplayable lie, WGT has opted not to create a button that can be used after EVERY shot taken so a player can declare an unplayable lie, let alone which option for relief would work best for for the player. Sounds like a programming nightmare.

There is a fourth option and it's not that difficult to implement. Under local rules they could create a mandatory drop zone every 150 yards on each hole. Start near the green and work back. Any drop goes to the next drop zone back. A simple "Drop ball" button could initiate the drop. Players would then have a solution to the unplayable drop problem or a place to drop when presented with an unplayable lie. WGT wouldn't have to deal with trying to give customers choices of drop locations.
