I am a master at 62.24 and it has been a tough road to get there as you all know.  I had to play a lot of good rounds and beat a few higher ranked players in match play to get to 62.24. As I was coming up the latter sometimes my average would go up until I shot a low round and then it would go down. when I play a tournament if I don't score well I will bail on the last hole because I am afraid my average will go way up again. now that I am a master I am not sure If I play a tournament and score higher than my ranked average will it go up? Do I have to score at least my ranked average of 62.24 to stay there? how does this work?

As a master your average is computed from your best 40 ranked rounds. If you have played more than 40 ranked rounds, your score will either remain static or go down, if you have played less than 40 RR's your score will fluctuate until you have reached that number.

If you make a score that is lower than one of the 40 that goes to make up your average, that old score will be replaced by the new lower score, and your average will go down.

If you make a score that is equal to or higher than one of the 40 scores that go to make up your average, then your average will remain the same.

Do you mean 40 rank rounds as a master or since I started?

Yes, as a master. Your average reflects your scores in your current tier only. When you tier up, your average resets.

It's 40 Master strokeplay rounds, excluding Par3 and Par5 courses and not in practice mode.

    Not necessary!

Any higher score will be kicked out automatically when you have enough low scores. Eventually, only those 40 low rounds will count, and average will not be influenced negatively by high rounds. Play them, practice and enjoy!

One more dumb question. How do I know how many ranked rounds I have in this tier.

All this^ does is condition yourself to be a quitter. Your score in each round you play is the result of the reality of the moment.

Yep. Quitting to avoid posting a score is dishonest, mostly to yourself, when you fail to post a high score.

In effect you are artificially manipulating your scoring average, even if it is opposite what sandbaggers do (purposely shooting and posting a high score).
