I tried to download a new version of waterfox and got some sort of virus. The play now button is replaced by a full add. This is now the situation in all browsers. I have ran a full scan with avast virus scanner and it cannot fix the issue. Any suggestions?

+1 ^^ or got to your browser's apps 'store'.  AdBlocker has a free version (pretty good) or 'make a small donation' version with a few more bells & whistles. I dot the latter and am happy with it.

When you downloaded the version you probably just ok'd your way through the agreements nobody ever reads. Well there's check boxes that default to checked along the way and those checked boxes let other stuff get installed on your computer, like search bars and such.

Go to your Add/Remove programs utility and look at what's there. You'll probably see toolbars and search engines you don't recognize. Get rid of them and in the future, uncheck all the boxes you see during an install. Or at least read what they allow.  :-)

click start button on far left and type, system restore click on it and enter a date that is previous to the date you got the virus
