Perhaps, with occasional exception, I've noticed that sometimes a little more power is good for shorter putts, maybe because of the difference of inertia of getting the ball rolling.
During a challenging game, the exact amount of extra power is crucial because any mishit may catch the lip or severe slope and the ball may roll far enough from the hole to present, yet another, pivotal putt.
Maybe it's just on my end but the 1st putt, and usually the last putt (esp. if I'm below par) can be very challenging. All putts are important but I have to take care to hit those w/ great consideration.
good luck out there
