On a number of occasions, toward the end of a round in a multi-round tournament (that gives no clear indication of when any given round will reach its deadline), I have been stopped short by the ever so annoying and frustrating notice stating that I had run out of time for that particular round.

For heaven's sake, WGT, change the current protocol and make it so, once started, a round can be completed without interruption. Simply disable the ability to save the round to resume it later when the round is started close to the deadline, and make that policy clear. In other words, the round has to be played entirely there and then to be completed.

The way I figure it out is...

Say the first round has 23 hours left. when I sign up, say it's 1pm.

I know the tourney started at noon on say Monday the 1st.

Okay, after I play the round, I go to the tourney again and it will say something like "round 2 starts on 10/2"..so now I know it's 24 hour rounds, and each round has to be completed before noon the next day.

    Cumbersome...would prefer the old "Round 2 ends in 16 hours 47 minutes"...etc.

Your intelligent workaround shows how awkward the current system is. My initial suggestion still stands.

    No time limit?

o.k., I enter late, I do not save&quit, I leave the game window open and the avatar idling, do my business or other duties, enjoy a night out and come back next noon to continue...

...and a whole bunch of players wonders why it doesn't finish, or how to meet the schedule of the next rounds, delayed by an unknown time...

Now, if you introduce another time limit, I'd scream of annoyance and frustration!

I see no alternative to the current deadlines, and the information given on the site are there for ev1 to see - we should take responsibility, check them out and obey them.

    Peace & have fun!

With all due respect, alosso, the scenario you described is very unlikely, unless someone leaves his/her computer on and never allows it to go to sleep, day after day. Otherwise, if the window stays open, but your computer is restarted or brought out of sleep, you are automatically logged out.

I'm sure the current system can and should be improved along the lines of my suggestion, but with some other refinements that account for whatever possibility I may have overlooked.

Can't understand why people wait until the last moment to play em anyway - poor time management on the players part.....

Unlikelyness or not, you cannot leave the tournaments without a deadline, why not stick to the one at hand?

There's no improvement necessary IMHO, because all data are available.

WGT tournaments end at 12 pm PT, easy to check from any location. Their T&Cs give all necessary information.

CC tournaments are documented in the respective section, local time for each round is precisely given. You only have to learn if it's your time zone - open one yourself to check it.

As I said, players should keep their eyes open and take responsibility for their needs. I don't want more changes with the chance to create more programming flaws.
