I noticed other players that are levels below me, have equipment that is still locked for me.  I noticed one guy who is level 34 with a driver that is locked until level 72.  Why is this?

The rules changed a couple of months back. Before then there was a lot more freedom in what you could buy.

Clubs used to be available by tier instead of level. Before the change to level based availability a lot of Masters already had the top equipment and if they weren't pushed into the Legend category they kept everything and now have the same clubs as the Legends but not the same tee or green speed. Real fair, huh?

Thanks for the info, I just moved up to Master level and they moved me back to different tees.  I was playing Bethpage in heavy wind and I can't get to some par 4's in 2 shots.....doesn't make sense that I can't reach a par 4 in 2 with the clubs I have.  I just thought I should be able to upgrade my driver in order to make it fair.

    yup,

they got it azz backwards - equipment should still be tier specific, as tees are tier specific. Levels and such should play a part in determining tiers, but that too would encourage sandbagging, and would be counterproductive.

I don't see them changing it anytime soon, if at all, so best just to get used to it.

You can look at my equipment to see the same thing.  I am a Legend and currently level 57, when they converted me I was a master and was able to buy any of the equipment that is available to any level.  I don't have the top stuff, never bought it when I could but what I have would not be available to me now and certainly not when I converted at a level 30.
