Currently, when you run out of a ball "type" during a round, your ball is replaced with the most basic (and free) WGT starter ball.  It would make more sense for the program to instead automatically replace your ball with the "next best" or "most expensive" ball in the player's inventory.

    1) This would give a player a better chance of posting a good score in a round where their current balls run out.

    2) This would increase revenue for WGT by forcing use of "non-free" starter balls when a player runs out of balls mid-round.

The question then becomes what is considered the best ball?  Your opinion on that may differ from what is selected for you.

This makes total sense, and I've always understood and agreed with the way it is.

However, let's think about the promotional balls,  Virtual tour balls, perhaps it could just switch to one of the others in the bag?   I have so many different ones, all in single quantities that I'll never buy more of.  They all have the same specs, only a different color or picture on them.  Maybe a vapor trail, or hearts or bubblie or snowflakes etc. But essentially the same ball.

Now, I don't ever expect the ruling to change, but if there was ever an argument for any change, that would be one I could understand.

Aw c'mon H-you know dang well WGT plays by the book. You finish what you start with or you get the rock. A concession on WGT's part so not to throw you out of the round.  :-D

    WGTdbloshoe,

The question need not become "what is considered the best ball". The point is to not replace one's equipment with what is overwhelmingly considered "the worst ball possible" (the free WGT starter ball) when nearly any ball in a player's inventory is going to perform better and allow the player to finish their round with a better chance at a competitive score than one would experience using the "rock".

I am not a programmer, but I would imagine it would not be all that difficult to set the default to "most expensive ball in the player's inventory", for example, since currently the default seems to be "least expensive ball in the player's inventory".  Just as it is now, the player obviously has the ability to edit their equipment after the round and equip the ball they prefer for the next round.  Lets just stop hobbling the player's current round with the worst ball when their equipped ball runs out.

Again, by making the default "the most expensive ball" in the player's inventory both the player and WGT benefit.  The player because he gets to finish his round with a better performing ball and WGT because it would marginally increase revenue through putting wear on a purchasable or purchased ball.  And yes, even changing the default to "oldest promotional ball" or "most recent promotional ball" acquired in the player's inventory would be preferable to the "rock" starter ball.

The other problem with not making this change is that newer players (like myself) may forget that their preferred and purchased balls ran out during the last round and then begin a new round and again are stuck with the "rock". Its frustrating to the player because they must finish their 9 or 18-hole round before they can make the change and WGT goes another round without potential revenue.

    Thank you for your consideration,

    Pangalar

The player is responsible for their equipment. We can check how many of the ball we prefer before our rounds. We also are offered the opportunity to purchase a sleeve of the current ball when we get down to our last one. If the player then ends up losing or running their final ball down to the end of it's life, it's entirely the fault of the player. There's no need for WGT to program un-irresponsibility into the game. We have ample opportunity to be responsible for ourselves.

I still wish the game was programmed to DQ us if we run out of ball life or lose our last one in a ranked round or tourney. It wouldn't take very long to learn to be responsible for ourselves.
