since upgrading PC and upgrading from 6 mbs internet to 40 mbs fibre internet my Maxthon 3 browser which ws smooth previously has started to become jumpy and hardly ever smooth.  I upgraded to Maxthon cloud (newer version) and meter is better.  5 years and we're still not getting perfect meter....LOL

Same thing happened to me, upgraded to quad core 4th gen proc and 8 RAM. Meter was crapola.

Finally switched to using pepperfalsh, which was always a no before. But we use Chrome, not Maxthon.

Best meter i ever had was on a Mac-Mini, 1.98 Ram and a sloooooow processor.

Still have an occasional time when my CPU is running high, i reboot my system, it slows down and i can play.

Is there something wrong with the meter?

Mine has been the same for 4 years now...some days it's like driving in city traffic (stop and go) and other days it's faster than Superman.

I haven't had a chance to play today due to company in town, but I will test out some of the comments made here.

Thanks for the replies and ideas.

Just throwing this in, it might help someone.

Last week I installed Windows 8.1 update. The game became unplayable on my laptop. My cpu monitor normally settled at 8-12% usage which gave me a smooth meter. After the update it was 70-85% !!

I went online to find a fix, apparently there's a glitch in the task scheduler causing an exe file to open and close a few times a second, every second.

I applied the very simple fix and now it's back to normal and Maxthon3 is back to its best.

Run Task Scheduler, go to Task Scheduler Library / Microsoft / Windows / WindowsBackup and disable the ConfigNotification task.

     That's all!

This sounded like an option that might be enabled but I was not able to locate any WindowsBackup in the Task Scheduler Library / Microsoft / Windows /  WindowsBackup

I wonder if that is a task that you enabled somehow?

So far this is what I have changed and it seems to have made a huge improvement...Fare less meter issues.

I switched browsers from Chrome to Maxthon.

Set GFX card to performance instead of balanced.

Set CPU priority for Maxthon from normal to high.

Changed Flash settings from high to medium in the WGT options menu.

This fixed it for me !

When on a game screen, right click.  Choose Settings   (not global settings). Uncheck

    enable Hardware Acceleration.

    I bet that helps.
