BG20bball:
Can someone explain the reason why when you run out of a type of balls you automatically have to use the standard white ball. For instance, if I an using the Nike Level 71 balls and have ten other types of balls available, why cant I select one of these different types when the Nike ball runs out of hits?
The reason is -
none of those other types of ball are in your golf bag.
While they are in your inventory, we can only 'equip' our bag with 1 make/model of ball from our inventory by dragging the ball of choice up to the right end of the In My Bag line of the game client Change/Edit Equipment page. Another way to look at it is that your inventory of other balls is at home, and not with you on the golf course
The Rules of Golf only allow players to carry 14 clubs, which is the same here at WGT, and Appendix I, Part C, 1., c., (i), of the Rules of Golf allow the Tournament Committee (WGT) to invoke a local Condition of the Competition known as the One Ball Condition:
c. One Ball Condition
If it is desired to prohibit changing brands and models of golf balls during a stipulated round, the following condition is recommended:
(i) “One Ball” Condition
During a stipulated round, the balls a player plays must be of the same brand and model as detailed by a single entry on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls.
Technically, by running out of the 'equipped' ball during the round you would be disqualified. Instead WGT provides a free, you-can't-lose-it-or-wear-it-out ball.
Note too that WGT provides a notice at the beginning of a round (or during a round if applicable) that you are using the last ball of that make/model, AND AT THE SAME TIME they give you a chance to get more of that make/model of ball.
So WGT does indeed 'give you a choice' - buy more of the make/model of ball you started with or finish the round with the free Starter ball.
