For us, i think it's more what we see that we DON'T like that matters more.

Someone that jumps from club to club.

Someone who's friends list looks like the cover of Maxim magazine :-)

Check their profile page to see what messages have been left.

Scoring.......someone that has just joined WGT and they are shooting par or below every time out.

But yes, an active player is key.

    Good topic TopShelf...

For me it's someone that's not just active but interactive (with other members of the club), is willing to make the most out of being in the club and is a decent human being. The wall is a pretty good indication of the latter but more importantly what you learn through interaction.

The idle deadwood, cheats, serial quitters and generally repulsive types can find another club to sit in.

It's also nice to have players who are positive and willing to help others with their game, contribute to the club and GSOH helps too.

All of the above plus I avoid high level low tier players and ones that only play Blitz and match-play. Oh, and ones that have said nasty stuff on the forum.

Active players need loyal owners.......Lemme throw that in the ring.

That being said, I said it.

...just wondering what you mean by a 'loyal' owner?

I agree with PR, Samantha and Courtney.....those are all things I consider before bringing someone into my club.

The Country Club is a place where friends gather to enjoy the game of golf. It is a family. Folks who get to spend quality time with each other. The club standard of ethics is important to draw a quality group together.

While the statistic of a player performance helps that individual to compete in matches, the quality of that persons character will be clear to all over a long period of time. As players advance in this format of golf, their individual traits will emerge for everyone to take notice of.

Having a team to run the country club is important. It is my hope that eventually the status of a member who is advanced to a director will be given tools to assist the owner to manage the country club.

The Veteran players can earn position and status by their participation in the country club events. The members have then a chance to earn the veteran status. The new recruit status affords members the chance to know a new member is arrived. Making time to then play rounds of golf with each other will establish for a group the active vs inactive members.

Inactive members can and should be looked at closely by the owner and the directors. Decisions in private chats can then occur to decide the fate of members who are not active. The owner has the final call in who gets deleted.

    TopShelf2010:
If I may, how important is A/S and or Match Play? I know there are some players that prefer to play these types of rounds. While others, like myself, rarely play A/S or Match.

    Hi TS,

To me none at all in considering if a player's will stay at the club or not.

A/S is useful for playing with another member as a team to see how you compliment each others game and get to know the person you're playing with.

Match is just a bit of fun and if ranked gives you some insight into your opponents competitive edge.

I think Skins is underated and good for a casual knockabout with friends.

Most importantly for me is that members participate in the tournaments hosted by my club and use their free passes to contribute XP. Other than that I want them to enjoy the game, show respect and courtesy when playing and for everybody to have fun.

I think MP games are good for interaction but we also have a LIVE chat utility via our website that enables our members to interact socially even when they're not playing together and I think that interaction is great for bringing a club together.
