i think that i found a temporary fix to this meter stuttering glitch that has affected us all in one way or another. i experimented with this idea yesterday and it didn't even inconvenience the other players..

wgt opens up their matches in a pop up window. `--as long as you keep the window that the match is in you can close the other tabs andrefresh/restart your browser without interrupting other players.

it worked for me using google chrome and internet explorer 8&11.  hopefully this solves the issue temporarily for y'all as it has doe for me. you may have to do this 1,000 times but it's better than losing golf balls due to an erratic swing or water hazard that shouldn't have been.

      thank you,

If that does not help, we also recommend the following:

    - Close other programs, browser windows and browser tabs

    - Have the wgt.com website open but minimized and not displayed

    - Play WGT in the original window size, do not maximize it to full screen

    - Turn off Reflections, Flag Animation, Background Loading, Avatar rotations, and WGT Lessons in your Options

NO, no and no. This is never a good move. The OP discovered what closing it does for the game and he is dead on. Having that window open in the background plays havoc with the meter in many systems.

In fact, it would behoove WGT to add this to the list of things to do to make the game more playable as only those that frequent the forums know it helps. How many of the majority of players that don't know this hit Play Now, get to the game and then have the meter fun because the main site gets in the way? A lot I would bet, just from what I see playing AS.

Thanks YJ, I didn't know this affected the meter until I read your post. It seems more and more that WGT really are completely useless at being helpful or fixing any issues or implementing anything good for the game.....or doing anything besides the in-house banter and producing gimmicks or money-grabbing scams.

For the help and good advice I've received I have the unpaid contributers of the WGT community to thank.

Yep. Close everything you can before you start to play.

Players can also create a Desktop shortcut using the game-client URL.

    Right before I play:

I delete all my browser histories, cookies, other plug-in data, cached images and files, passwords, autofill form data, and hosted app data.

Then I close my browser and run CCleaner.

Once CCleaner is done I open my browser again and only open the WGT game client tab.

I start Task Manager and minimize it to my task bar. I use VGG Caddy too so I open VGG Caddy. I use Task manager to watch the performance of my computer's CPU. I start my down swing when the CPU performance is at it's minimum.

I log into the game client, click on Menu > Game Settings, turn off whatever settings I don't want on, and adjust the volume of some of the Audio options.

    Game Settings

Display Hole In One Challenges - NO

    Ball Speed Boost - None

Use Ball Speed Boost On Green - NO

    Flash Quality - HIGH

Show WGT Lessons Button - OFF

    Distance Markers - OFF

    Aerial Multi-Cam - ON

    Aim Arc - OFF/ON (I use ON)

    Camera Pans - OFF/ON (I use OFF)

    Reflections - OFF

    Putting Grid - OFF

    Hole Info Display - OFF

    Ball Trails (Replay) - ON

    Flag Animation - OFF

End of Game Messages -  OFF

Putter Pal Display - ON if you use it. OFF if you don't.

Shot Pal Display - ON if you use it. OFF if you don't.

I am then ready to play WGT

TBH, this is way over the top and totally unnecessary. You trying to scare folks or something or just playing on a barely minimal machine?
