Don't know how port forwarding is going to help. WGT uses several servers, so I'm not sure about an IP address.

Have you checked flash version (get.adobe.com)? Cleaned ALL cache and cookies (CCleaner and Advanced System Care are the best cleaners)? Checked your internet speed (speedtest.net)?

Also, try using a different browser. Sometimes, after downtimes/updates, the meter gets jumpy for some people.

You might also want to check to see if your hardware accelerator is enabled. With the game client open, right click anywhere on the screen, you'll see settings plus global settings. Click on settings, and on the bottom left you will see a screen, click on that. If the box is checked, just uncheck it. You might have to let the meter go a couple times, but after that you should find your meter much smoother. It worked wonders for mine using Mozilla Firefox. I also have to play the game with just the game client open, as the other window causes a more than occasional stutter.
