  The backspin on the shot takes effect just as the ball lips around the back edge of the cup, adding a slingshot effect to the ball speed as it comes back out. Very unlucky......but also very funny!!!! :-)

  I did not hear the flagstick hit. Otherwise, it's difficult to see...

  In the first replay a reverse view from the hole was shown, the ball was at or close to the hole, and the lines forth and back (sp?) seemed to cross. Wonder why this view wasn't in the list then(?), leaving only long distance views.

  The only attempt of an explanation is that the ball took an improbable turn in the hole and Merion #5 took it's toll, feeding the ball down to the fringe.
