When the ball hit indicator changes from white to "red", do you think it has a direct or indirect effect with meter spikes and/or shot distance deviations?.... If you think not, either you never considered the possibility or you believe everything WGT says or insinuates is absolute.

I've been pondering this for quite some time. Been recording my scores and/or results of missed shots when using a "used ball" in a round. Results; major/minor meter spike increase? 50%, shot distance irregularities when hitting woods or irons? minimum 5 shots per round, putter/putting? (hold on to your mouse) 80%!!!! Hitting the "ding"? a crap shoot/nearly impossible. (not including <1-2ft putts)

I know some are going to respond that WGT has stated and/or written (I can't find it) the meter color indicator "only" records the number of hits (putts not included) for that particular ball......If you buy that, I have some really shiny gold that I'll sell at a 50% discount of spot.

Could this have any correlation with the many complaints of ill-regularities with this game? In my opinion I would have to say yes. Would appreciate any feedback (w/facts) from players or WGT. Please don't reply with a,WGT fix this or fix that, complaint off this topic.

This post is only the results of my own personal study (facts) and in no way, insinuating wrongdoing by WGT...... However I would like to add that WGT's revenue would increase greatly if this were an integral part of their system. (afterthought) umm?

I've played through a zillion balls and have never noticed anything different with either the balls performance or the smoothness of the meter.

When the hit meter goes red, all it's doing is warning you that you're reaching that particular ball's shot limit ... excellent info, if you're a guy that only buys a sleeve or 2 at a time.

Me either in fact  my best round ever( my 64 @ BPB )was with a ball that was nearing the end of its life. And I maybe had 1 meter spike the entire round.  I also had close to 75% dings that round. The ball was replaced on the 18th hole after a drive that split the fairway.

I haven't noticed anything either - in fact I usually use brand lose balls the most due to meter irregularities. David don't give wgt any smart ideas...

Hey David, are you talking about premium balls and clubs sucking resources from the game, i.e., the swing meter? If so, the answer is yes. The Adobe flash platform is a resource hog in itself. The more things WGT adds to this game, the worst-off the meter will be, and the slower the page loading will become, for some. Did you notice how smooth the meter is on the Congressional one shot challenge hole?

There's a reason why the meter is smooth. We also can't loose sight of the fact that the game has to send our shot command to the server and wait for it to return to our computers through our Internet connection. Where this does take place in a millisecond, there's room for error and the system is unable to respond fast enough at times. This is where the Internet has not been perfected, yet.

Google Adobe flash and you'll get all kinds of information about the flash platform. A lot of IT guys believe there's a better platform WGT could implement that would use less resources to play the game making for smoother playability, and a faster web site on a whole.

Consider this OPD, the longer you play the more you wear the ball down.  Also, the longer you play the more info is stored in your browser cache and it eventually fills up if you don't clear it occasionally.  This is especially true if you use Firefox.

Once the browser is full, FF and Flash do more work managing the cache files, (searching for the any past their expiration date/time, the oldest and least used, etc.), and that is done for each new file sent to the game cllient.

The more work being done by your CPU the higher the likely hood of a stutter.

So, if you play a long time with the same ball it could reach the red area of its life, at the same time you could be reaching a full cache.  The  correlation between the red area and your mishits could be a correlation between a full cache and the red area.

Especially true if you use FF.  I use FF and clear just the browser cache a couple of times a day.  FF fills up quickly.  Not due to memory allocation because I have 500Mb allocated.  Its due to the number of files.  FF is hard coded to have 8,192 files max in its cache.  I've never seen more than 130Mb of storage used in my FF cache.  I've often seen 8192 files in the cache.  When 8192 files are stored the FF browser and Flash begin to work harder since the cache is full.

BTW, I've seen no correlation between game performance and the red area on ball life.
