Hi all,
This has been in my mind for some time, but thought that I needed to get some info first to see if:
1 - there is any interest
2 - are there enough clubs to warrant a competition.
At Southern England Links (http://selgolfclub.co.uk) we run strokeplay leagues where we have 5 fixtures a week offline, using a 9 holes single play round. Results are collected and tables updated (if you go to the site, look under standings/leagues/sel leagues) and a 4 weekly Champion is decided.
I know many Europe side could be aware of how the Champions League is run in football, well, I'm thinking of something similar for WGT CCs.
Each club that runs some form of league puts forward their monthly/quarterly champion to represent them in a WGT Champions league. The runner up or 2nd, 3rd and 4th into a Europa League style competition.
These competitions would be run using the WGT 9 hole single play competitions with group stages and knockout rounds to follow. So an extra 9 hole round to play only for the CC representatives.
All fixtures/results will be available on a shared spreadsheet.
So:
Does your club run any format that gives you a regular champion?
If so, what time scale does this run on?
If your club is interested, please post a reply stating club and time scale of your competition.
If there isn't any interest, fair enough, nothing lost....but could be fun.
Cheers for reading.
