I am a 61.75 average legend player and need some putter advice. ! have a 40.00% 1st putt percentage, 46.70% 0-5 ft percentage, but only 9.02 % 5-10 ft percentage !! I feel I am missing too many makeable putts and this is holding me back.

I have been using Ghost putters almost since I started here, currently use Lvl 92 Ghost. I have read and found from experience that the Ghost is very much a ding putter, and wonder if its time to take stock and maybe change. I really need to sink more of these makeable putts to move on, I feel I should be sinking them to really improve my average.

So, I would like some advice on which putter would most help me meet these targets. I realise I will have to learn new increments and how a new putter works compared to what I use now, and that will take a while.

So any sensible advice is welcome .

    Thanks

    Rich

If you want a great putter then get the level 96+ Versa putter . The Versa is very easy to use ans it will perform both ways . It will allow you to putt either way hitting or missing the ding.It also holds its line very well and has a nice meter speed . It can very easily be the last putter you will ever need .  Good luck with your game and I hope this helps . :-)

    Versa Increments are ; 15 , 30 , 60 , 150 , and 300

    Precision 5

    Forgiveness 3.5

    Balance 4.5

    Meter 4.5

Those stats are misleading on the range percentages.   It is not the percentage you make from that range -it is what percentage of your holed putts come from that range.  Any miss from longer range becomes a holed putt from 0-5 feet (assuming you didn't leave it way short or hammer it on by.)  You probably make more than the percentages show from realistic birdie range.

And most everybody feels that they leave too many shots on the course that they should have converted.

There's nothing wrong with the Level 92 Ghost you already have Rich.

But if you're feeling the need for a change.. try/rent the Level 96 Odyssey Versa #1.

    More forgiveness mate.

Not that I can sink one to save my life..

    Good Luck!

The scale may take some new concentration, but this advice from lonnie is valid. The excellence of the 96 Versa can translate into more holed putts; if only by a factor of one. Get it and in a couple of weeks you will be very pleased with a lower average.  ~ SP ~

The excellence of the 96 Versa can translate into more holed putts; if only by a factor of one and this is most noticeable in the 5-10 foot range. Get it and in a couple of weeks you will be very pleased with a lower stroke average.  ~ SP ~

If that was the case, wouldn't the percentages add up to 100?

Explanation was incorrect. It is not the % of your holed putts coming from that range.

It the number of putts holed from that range - as a % of all putts attempted from any range.

So that number should add up your total conversion rate of all putts.

You can check this against the 1-putt, 2-putt, 3 or more stat approximately

    Say I have 60% 1-putts, 36% 2-putts, and 4% 3 or more. For 100 holes I'd be taking 60 putts for my 1-putts, 36 x 2 = 72 putts for my 2-putts, and 3 x 4 = 12 putts on my 3 or more (assuming I have done no worse that a 3-putt). This equals 144 putts in total -- and obviously I holed 100 of them (for 100 holes) -- so my conversion rate is 100/144 = 69.4%

Then you can add up the % holed from each range - it should come close to this conversion rate.

At least this is how it is supposed to work - these stats have been reported as glitchy in their maths for years now. Whenever I do these calcs - the 2nd set add up to about 1% or so more than the 1st calculation.

Many thanks for the valuable advice. Now I'll have to wander to the Pro's shop and spend some credits !!
