    Hi all,

I have just played my first 'pay to play' tournament. I did the Kiawah Island back 9. Is it me or did everything seem a little bit more sensative? I had a lovely little 6ft putt for birdie on the 10th. Aimed slightly to the lef of the hole and 'pinged' the meter just to the right really fractionaly though. The ball went a good 3inches to the right of the hole!

Driving on the 18th and the same thing, aimed slightly left 'pinged' the meter just off of perfect to the right and the ball ended up on the right hand side of the fairway in the rough. WTF? Way too sensative WGT. If I am paying to enter at least make it the same as 'normal' practice or free tournaments.

    Moley

    Hi,

It really depends, but I suspect the issue is green speeds. At higher green speeds, smallest of mistakes will be punished. What may not break at normal or fast greens will definately break at tournament greens.

Any kind of miss of the meter, depending on how it's used, will also have positive or negative consequences.

theres been quite a few discussions regarding pay to play tournies:

Club yardage goes out the window in ready go's

why do ready to go tournements not play cosistantly!!

just a couple of the later threads that have ppl foaming at the mouth.

i agree its a little weird and inconsistent so i dont play them anymore but a lot of ppl manage to score quite well on them - dunno if theres a secret for that or not lol
