It bit me once when the new Callies were introduced - using up the outdated ones would find me left with a Starter ball eventually.
andyson: Three opportunities to avoid playing with the rock. And as a 4th, one could still open a new browser window, go to the pro shop and buy more of that ball at any time in a game.
This means that they invested some work to avoid some players' stubborness turn into disappointment - quite nice!
Be aware though that option #4 must be taken before warning #3 comes up - once you're down to Starters there's no return!
