Hi guys/gals, (2 queries)      1) I play st.andrews quite a lot as I enjoy the course the most (its given me my best scores up to press).  But when I played it today in the 9hole back 9 Ready-Go tournament (a paid tournament)....I seemed to be experiencing some very weird shots!!!!!!

Firstly on 2-4 of the holes where I had easy, straight putt birdie and par chances of 3-5ft inwards......(the line marker being almost straight as well).......when the ball almost got to the cup, it seemed to veer off line and roll over the hole and miss. (1st time I just thought BAD PUTT) but 2nd,3rd and 4th time I thought...what the hell is going on here?????

It only occured on 2 birdie putts and 2 par putts that I can remember whereas a couple of very similar bogey putts never moved off line and went straight in as I would have expected from the birdie putts!

Also, I know the greens were `tournament` running but the distance control factor wasn`t the issue.

I`m not trying to say I am perfect at the game but it seem to feel as though there was something different about the Ready-go game from say, playing St.Andrews ranked strokeplay..... as though there was a spooky interfereence with the game ?????

    2)  I played the 18hole Oakmont Ready Go tournament today as well and on a few occasions, the ball off the tee (perfect drives) seem to have a mind of their own and even though they were destined for the fairway....they seemed to veer offline and end up in the rough.....its as though the wind had started to turn in the opposite direction!!!...is this something that can happen do you think?.....do you think there is a chance that the games can be interferred with in any way shape or form?

I would appreciate no nonsense comments regarding my skill level please :) as I have played this game almost everyday since I joined and can only assume that this is just a coincidence that I had these issues today...........or can I assume something more sinister??????????

Paranoid or a good case to discuss/look into??

    thanks

It may seem so, but it's fairly simple explanation.

When you have much faster greens + wind any break or miss is multiplied.

it's really seen easily on #1 sta old pin

if you miss right and little high, it breaks left but with left wind and tournament greens, from 10ft it breaks probably 2 cups more than on fast greens.

So, if you hit with same aim and ding, it will miss lot. So, you have to either hit it harder or aim higher. But then, if u miss it may just go 6-7 ft by. That's why many legends, often miss little late, which allows them to aim same way as on fast green, but by missing 2-3 lines late, it keeps the line longer and drops.

I do not recommend play to miss, it's a the way to doit and personally I don't use it often. But, as shown with example above, on some holes, in some situations, if you are confident and practiced it before, it can help.

And as always if you are noticing something far from what you expect, save the shot and send an email to WGT to look into.  But i can tell you tournament greens are exactly as icon said, especially on the 2 courses you played in today which can have some severe breaks at the hole or around the hole, and is the ball loses speed you will get that diving effect.

The driving sounds like you got the extreme VEM today, I got a few today as well where a pull was exagerated and I missed a fairway on a 1 hop into the rough.  Or the ball veered a little off the tee down the wrong line.  I take it in stride as the end result was not to far off where I was aiming, if I aimed safer I would have been fine with all devations.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.  I have been reading that a few guys have been having the same type of game and that maybe there is some type of compensator if you are having a good round ??? ....I`m not quite sure about that as I always seem to see some very low scores in these paid comps so there must be plenty of others having the perfect round without any issues?

I`m not going to go on and on about it and will see what happens the next time I`m in a Ready-go comp......time to take it on the chin? .............I guess so!!

    Cheers guys
