    Hi people,

I started playing this game a few months back but didn't play much due to my job. I got back in it couple days ago and just might be able to be here more often. Will see. During the few games i had recently, i noticed that most people have much better clubs than me lol. But before i go run in that pro-shop, i would appreciate some good advices first as i don't want to regret the clubs i might end up buying.

Also, i noticed that i received some free golf balls after entering some tournaments. Is this often the case? And is there a way to also get some clubs somehow? I mean, if i win a tournament, will i get a club or a set of clubs? If so, i might just wait before buying anything. Thank you.

In my opinion wait till level 30 where you should be able to get some real good Cleavland wedges , your short game is where you lower your scores, after that a good set of irons, maybe then a putter followed by a three wood, if you a ding putter get a putter if you miss ding putt keep the starter works well for miss ding putting, my thoughts only lol good luck

I took the Putter > Driver > Wedges > Irons > Wood route, and Imo, this is the best route! ;)  Putting is one of the most important parts of the game and it's very hard to learn how to properly read/putt/etc if the putter you have hits the same putt 20 different ways from the same exact spot.

Drivers help you get closer to the hole so you have a much shorter approach, which means you have the potential to get much closer to the pin.  Now that you're closer to the hole you might actually be able to use Wedges for your approach shots, and not just scrambling/pitching (which is great, but I'd much rather be on the green, closer to the pin 1st).

Lastly, Irons and Woods.  I started off with the Ghost Putter (Lvl 35 800c), TM Driver (48 2,500c), 3 cleveland Wedges (lvl 27 995c ea), then get the level 59 Pings (3000c?), and finally a wood.  You can use that set-up for quite some time.

If you have internet access and about 6 hours to kill (lol) you can easily complete every single offer/survey on the site for over 7,500 credits (I did).

To wait until L30+ is good advice. Also, don't buy a putter below 500 cr.

Sponsored tournaments like VUSO or that "Whisky" tour give free ball(s), but these aren't of much use because you'd need more than a single ball - they wear and get lost though costing more than others. An unexpensive ball like Tour-SD might be good for you - still munging credits.

There are no clubs as tournament prizes, and it's unlikely for anybody to win any credtis without good equipment and a lot of experience. Therefore, you might want to trust on your own capabilities to get credits - with your money or with your time.

    Have fun!

I agree with all the replies. But if money is no object, get the best equipment available to your level! The better it is, the better your game.

    Enjoy

Very sound advice from above. Alot depends upon your goals. It is very true that the clubs before L-30 do very little. Very little. Until then, the time spent is all about learning, and during this session, the free stuff is just fine (I know, it's hard to believe ;-} ). Beyond that, except for a very few (mostly experienced cheaters) you will have to spend money to reach fullfillment of those goals, if they are lofty.  ~ SP ~

All good advice so far !  Now for my Nickle.

WGT gave me a $1.00 when i moved up, bought the starter plus club set for $.99.   I used them until 2010 when the "famous" Ping club set was made available in advance of my tier.  Cuudn't buy them fast enuff !  When cleveland wedges became available got them!  I had already gotten my "Daytona" putter by then and I was set until Tour Master.

At the Tour Master level I reviewed my clubs, got new irons, driver, and three wood.  Still have them all, and use them.

Best advice I recieved when I started out was to find a ball I liked, and cuud afford long term that helped my game, and stick with it until you must make a change.

Second best advise i received was to take FULL advantage of the Free Rental days!  Can find out alot that way.

I was never acceptable on the surveys, (age I think),  but it does seem to be a good way to get credits.

However I do have an alternate way of getting the equipment I desire.   On all gift giving days i will tell my better half what I desire, she then will go to the pro shop and get me what she wants.  Always fits, always works, never have to return it, and didn't have to put up with store shopping.

I am usually greatly pleased with the results, and had no remorse about not getting a physical gift.  It's the thought that counts.     My Nickle.

ps It shuud always be about the fun first!
