  Hi rovapro,

  It is a legal shot to chip rather than putt on the green and sometimes its necessary, like when you've got a huge hill that you just cant judge how its going to break. Most players in real life dont take this shot (including myself) for the fear of taking a nice chunk out of the green but it is legal.

  Why? Nothing in the rules of golf limit players to only putting on the green.

  Swings & roundabouts.

  Funny how you could use the flop shot on the greens on wgt putting contest. but can't use it on a normal game.
