At the time a player enters a multiplayer game, a single ping can be sent to their IP and the return time could be posted next to their name/title.

This way a multiplayer game could have the option to play with fast loaders and slow loaders could play with slow loaders.

Additionally, it would let us, the player, know how WGT servers are receiving us so we can disconnect and try to get a lower ping rate on another server.

    Hi,

From my very limited knowledge of Ping - it has little or no affect on this type of game.

Quote - Nivlac post some 12 months ago. Ping is just a measurement of the amount of time it takes one packet of information to be transmitted from you to the server and then back to you again.  However, ping is generally only a concern in shooter type games or any game where player vs player action is dependent upon accuracy to the millisecond.  FPS Shooters are the best example of where a bad ping can hurt you simply because of the speed of the bullets and and all the characters running around.  A few milliseconds of lag can be the difference between a headshot and a complete miss.

On WGT, nothing is that time dependent (ie.  Your shot result isn't based on the exact location of the other players in your foursome) so your ping time won't have a noticeable effect here - Unquote

So - I dont see how its gonna help you.

    Cheers

    Doug

If your ping time is > 200ms and you have 3 other players with the same, your game is going to take 2 hours to complete.

If your ping time is < 50 and you have 3 other players with the same, your game is going to take 45 minutes.

Knowing the ping times of the other players helps you determine how long you want to wait for the other 3 players to load. It also, and more importantly, helps you determine how jumpy your meter is going to be. It has nothing to do with precision or accuracy.

Doug you understand Ping just fine but you're missing the point of the suggestion.

If I create a game with 3 other players and Player2 has a Ping time > 200, he's going to take forever to load. Then if Player3 has a ping time of 500+, the game is going to take while.

If my ping time is 500+, I'm not going to have a good game. So...I would check my internet, disconnect, and try again until my ping time is lower.

    Hi Text,

    Thanks for explanation.

Its not what I understood from a few previous posts, but I'll take your word for it.

    Cheers
