how to hit this shot.  One major problem is green slopes downhill so can only land 3 yds on green and total distance to pin is 6 yds and ball is 3 yds short of green. Other situation is 30/40 lie in bunker with high lip and pin is 8 yds but ball can only carry 6 yds.  Any ideas?

Learn the flop shot. Your 60 wedge flops 15, 9 out of 40/50 rough and spin slows it down. It also chips 6 yds and with back spin will roll less than that on a partial swing. Just remember the first bounce has to be on the green or it's a muff.

LOL-Let me be the first to say "Don't go there." GL

God morning Jim: As soon as I saw the Yankee logo, I knew I had the right guy. I "m fairly new to the game and so far so good except for the deep rough shots(60-70%) Not sure what club to use on these shots, should I move the "dot"taks full swings??? need your help. tx vegasboy717

LOL-I can tell you what works for me but WGTIcon is the man. He wrote that Chip and Pitch Tips back when he was a commoner like us and that's the best reference.

If you're in that deep rough you are rarely, if ever, going to make a fabulous recovery shot and save the score. You have to minimize the damage. Take your medicine, re aim into the fairway closest to you and punch your way back into play. A punch shot with top spin is what I use.  Do not forget to move the aimer. The shot isn't going to go very far and since the aim usually defaults at the pin you could have more misery on that line to the cup.

This is just my conservative way of getting out of trouble. There are probably other ways to handle it and I'm sure you will see tips from others but I'd rather take the par or bogie and move on. Hope this helps.  GL
