Ok, before I get the usual responses about this topic, just bear with me one second please.

I have gotten to where I am legitimately (limited red tee stuff except for some occasional fun club stuff) and I don't play a ton anymore because of being on the road for business. I won't play wgt on my tablet, just too painful.

I have had good discussions about this with the likes of Jimbog and others, and I do realize that, to pardon the cliche, "it is what it is" in regards to WGT NOT changing this system.

I just wanted to share my recent experience with just changing ONE club in my bag, and the whole "ability to compete" response.

Whenever anyone brings up this topic, with in one or two replies comes the "well, you can compete with the clubs you have" response. You will ALWAYS see that response. Any good, not great player, like myself will admit we can compete with our current clubs - we understand that - lol. It is just we would like to compete on the same playing field. But, that is the argument that has be re-hashed over and over and it is not the point of this thread.

**This is the point** - I bought the R1 L93 drive because I play so little and at L93 it will be years before I get to L96. I hit the R11 irons with Max balls if you are curious. I was perfectly satisfied with my L83 x-hot and YES, I WAS ABLE TO COMPETE.

However, little did I know how much  that 7-10 yards of extra distance from one club would change a round. The par 5 on Congo with the front pin, the par 4 over the sand, all of the other par 5s, being able to put a tad more spin on approach shots because of using one club of higher loft...

I have popped off more sub 30 rounds and sub 60 rounds in the last week since getting this club than I ever have in the limited amount of rounds I play. And the ridiculous forgiveness with that driver is almost unfair off the tee.

So, I went from "competing" with the x-hot driver to "competing way better" with just the change to an upper level driver. I didn't even expect those results.

I would say it CAN have up to 2 strokes difference over 9 holes and up to 3-4 strokes difference in tough conditions over 18 holes. We all know what 1-4 strokes better in your score can mean in a RG. That is all I am saying.

LOL, nothing to go at, you're right. That driver made a huge difference for me because it's hard to miss fairways with it. The forgiveness let's you not worry about having to ding it and it plays really well on the links courses. I've had it since it came out and have passed up the other drivers available (all of them) in favor of it.

Keep in mind it's an 8 degree driver (think it's the only one) and that changes the way wind works with it. I use top spin a lot, including tailwinds, and the accuracy is such that you can pick slopes to kick off of and get big yardage. I have yet to find a place where the Med/High loft is an issue on any course. :-)
