WGT has responded to this in the past.

Because WGT is considered a 'skill based gaming' site, they have to go by the international standards.

Scotland is recognized as part of the UK so you have to fly that flag.

It would be like me trying to use the Ontario flag (my province).

Unlike Ontario, Scotland is not a province but a country. The UK is an alliance of four countries as the name suggests. To be precise UK is an empire not a country. An empire being a group of countries, centrally governed.

If you wish to study either the union of the crowns(1603) or union of the parliaments (1707) you will see that neither ended the status of either England or Scotland as a country.

There is no international standard that I am aware of for the definition of a country. Many websites allow Scotland to be chosen as an alternative to UK. There is a definition of nationality which unfortunately currently means I am British.

I understand perfectly Parsbear, your flag is your identity. I don't see Scotland or Ireland flying the Union Jack whn playing football or rugby as nations...WGT should take note of that.

OK.... not trying to start a fight here and I have absolutely no opinion on how things are done in international politics.

E-mail WGT if you want the full legal answer.... I was just relating what WGT said before in regards to this question.

My comment about Ontario was intended to put it in perspective.

    Scotland is........... a country

Yes it is Pars'...I've seen "Braveheart" numerous times about the life of William Wallace and how he started the crusade to free Scotland from the grips of England. One of my all time favorite movies.

I'm with you that WGT should give you the flag of your "Country" rather then one of another.

But as replied by others this subject has been brought up before in other posts. I am not aware of any response or statement from WGT of the outcome of that thread.

Keep contacting WGT and i'm sure they will respond, sooner or later. Just don't hold your breath on the sooner happening..;)    Good luck

Craig, if you want to chose UK, that is fine by me. Why can't you agree to give me my choice. Disagreeing with you does not make me an extremist. We can agree to differ but still support each others right to an opinion.

The legal requirement for WGT is to understand which countries allow online gaming. It would not be difficult to program that but still allow flags based on constituent countries, where applicable.
