Suggestion
for Community Building:
While the game play
is very good, and a number of additional suggestions listed here will make it
even better, I’d like to address in game communication.
WGT has attracted a
large following and people are willing to support the platform using various
methods. This online community needs to
have better ways of staying connected in order to flourish and grow.
In Game
The in game chat interface
is acceptable, but certainly not anything to praise. Allowing for additional character sets and being
able to scroll back farther would be welcome additions.
In Lobby
While waiting for a
game or deciding what kind of game to play, having the ability to chat with
other players would be good. One can fill a group this way – or perhaps just
get to know other players better.
Here, having the ability
to divide things up by tier and /or game type would be good. But better would be allowing players to
create their own chat rooms visible to all. A 19th Hole would be great, to
really allow a good chat for rounds just finished.
In Country Club
The Forum area of the
country clubs is adequate – but could still be improved to ‘standard’ forum capabilities.
(Post area width, icons, etc…). But this
alone is an inadequate way to communicate with country club members. Suggested extensions:
Country Club Announcements
available in Game: When a player logs into
the game –main menu – there is a visual queue that they should check the country
club main page for a new announcement. This
ability to put an announcement on the county club main page (more than just the
club message) should also be added.
There should also be
a way to send a mass message to all members of the country club.
I hope some attention
is plaid to the community building side of WGT in the near future and that it
facilitates building the community even stronger.
