This morning I created 3 CC tourneys for Starter clubs and balls only. 1 @ St. Andrews full 18 low winds and standard green speeds. Boy was it difficult at times. The front side being shorter was decent. I was -2 until I got to # 7. With even the light wind in my face from the master tees I had to aim well left to avoid the fescue in the middle of the fairway. The starter driver just couldn't make it over that. so I doubled it. but managed to par out for an even par 36 front but the backside killed me. Don't remember the hole scores but I ended up with a + 8 44 backside and a +8 80 for the round. What really surprised me though was how well i putted with the starter putter. If I had not made many putts the score could have been much worse.
Kia and Oak were equally difficult. with a + 8 44 on the Kia front 9 round with moderate winds and tournament green speeds. And a + 10 80 on the full 18 @ Oak with light winds and standard green speeds. I feel for the 2 or 3 legends that are in our CC if they chose to play these. If the tourneys are difficult from the master tees I shudder to think how hard they will be from the legend tees.
