I can't add how many times I am in the middle of a round and leave an approach a bit short or hit it a bit long leaving well under 30' and then hit what I feel in an excellent approach putt only to discover that the ridiculous 150 foot default scale for fringe putting was used and it really screws up my hole, if not round.  I always check the scale for putting if it is close to where it might change, but I never seem to think about that into the round if I am on the fringe.  Making the scale used consistent with those on the greens would be a huge help!

From someone who can't remember what I had for dinner last night, always check if you're on the fringe and always check the scale given to you by the caddy.

I do agree it would help if wgt made the caddy listen to us and give us a reasonable scale on the fringe.  But I doubt they will change it as its not a functional problem, only a 'nice to have' type request.

    DGolfer,

My recommendation is to just chip off of the fringe. I know sometimes it's tougher to do, especially if you are like 4 yards away, but you can save yourself some frustration by chipping.  Go into practice mode and work on it with your wedges, after a while you will find that it's not much different than putting.

    Good Golfing,

having lived in Europe for quite some time, I had the opportunity to play a good bit of Links style golf and love the ability to putt from odd the greens.  It does in reality make judging lines and distances a great deal easier than chipping or even playing a flop shot.  Frankly in real golf when I am on the fringe I would almost never consider doing anything but putting.  WGT is a great game for an online version, but I can't say that it yet lives up to the billing of being like real golf.  Thanks for the advice folks and enjoy the game!

I wish the WGT would simply remove the caddy altogether......the caddy has the correct club and, or meter for the putter about 10% of the time...useless...

We would make less mistakes if we had to pick the club and,or putter meter before we are allowed to execute a shot...

Same here.  I rarely putt from the fringe.  When I do it's because the balls is barely on  the fringe or very close the the edge of the fringe.  Otherwise, using a chip shot is the best option. Like Long said, practice practice practice.
