    alanti:
how many players in real golf make putts over 8 feet?

Less than they expect, for sure! Few years ago, I was becoming tired of the exaggerated expectations of fellow players with high handicaps, complaining about each missed long putt. So I had a deeper look into the PGA Tour stats (for once it's a good thing to have all these useless stats)

    Question:

Looking at the 15 ft putts (4.5 m), how many of those 180 top Pro players were able to hole more than 50%?

    Answer: Less than 30 = <15%

Thus, if 85% of those Pros miss more of those 15' putts than they hole out, what can an amateur expect?

I for one am more than content to get a tap-in as the second putt from this distance.

Best advice I can give is; ensure the rope you are using is up to standard and that all knots are secured correctly...

It all about where your hitting that 8' putt from.  I noticed at Pebble (Merion also comes to mind) that if you stay below the hole, even if it means staying 15 feet below, your odds are in your favor of making it compared to anything 6 to 10 feet above and breaking.

I was bumped up to Legend about a month ago, I really don't know why since my ranked rounds at Tour Master was at about 30 and I only broke 60 a few times but since the day moving to Legend I've struggled reading breaks, everything seems to break much more on the same tourny 12 greens than before (it was the same greens I played all my practice rounds on) and I'll play what I consider real good like shooting 45 in the Bandon Dunes par 3 tourney only to see I'm getting dusted by a guy who has only played here nine months by 5 strokes, kinda discouraging but it doesn't wanna make me quit, I just know I'm out of my league, temporarily.

When I read the title I pictured the OP opening cages and setting his members free!

I think he's actually losing members though.

But leaving because your CC owner can't spell is harsh imo.

He sure isn't the only one on here. The other day, Alosso corrected an American on a spelling error. Keep in mind that English is not even Alosso's first language. (apparently, it wasn't the first language of the American either.)

...and I'm not picking on Americans. We have seen Brits, Canadians, whomever. They must have slept through English grammar class...(admittedly, easy to do, but so is using spell check before the send button is pressed).

Spelling flames are lame, <snipping edit>

And, it was a special event, tongue-in-cheek. Usually, I avoid such lameness unless a post is illegible. More annoying is CAPITAL WRITING, no punctuation, or greengrocer's apostrophes.

Here, it only appeared as a mild punch line to me.

    Peace!

Pro shop equipment now allows making Legend to be almost a quick formality.  Get to Legend and want to be a good one it takes skill.......Skill comes from much practice (fortunately).

    Well Said
