The setup says it's a "2%-5%" lie in a bunker with 54 yards to the pin.  Your caddie gives you a PW which is rated at 90 yards.  Why does a flushly hit, full strength swing only produce a 15-20 yard flight that does not clear the bunker if it's only a 2%-5% lie.

I think the lie display needs to be changed to 20%-50%.  I've seen this on another challenge hole somewhere too, but don't remember which one.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

If flushly hit does not get out of bunker, then maybe try a different shot?

Yes, some cttp holes maybe marked wrong (sand shot on BP for example), but in this case, we do not know what type of sand it is. It could be a hard sand or a soft sand that eats up clubs.

    Hi WGTIcon,

Thanks for taking the time to post on this.  I have tried the; full, pitch, chip, and flop shots with clubs from the PW to the hybrid (which traveled 0' in the game but I hit effectively from sand in real life). Nothing I have tried seems to hit consistently as it should with this hole, with or without a bad lie.

As far as not knowing which kind of sand it is, that can be determined by stepping in it -  a golfer in a real game would know whether the sand is wet or dry before he takes his swing.  If the goal of this game is to provide an experience as close to real life as possible, then here an instance where it does not.

    Again thanks

Well, I can tell you for sure. I am fairly consistent there. Also, you tried every shot, except the 1 meant - a punch. How hard to hit it? well, practice and see. But I'd start at about 55-60 power.

well I get out with no problem 77yd wedge hit about 67yds and land within 8ft of the hole 99% of the time, and dont put spin on the ball.

Same here. About 70 yds power with a 75 PING Tour wedge and slight backspin will usually end up within 8ft of the hole. It may be a club issue...I just played another two rounds with starter wedges and starter balls.

Both times I played a full 70 yds shot at #7, first with backspin, then without, and found that in both cases the ball landed on the mound behind the bunker, bounced onto the green and sailed past the hole into the rough behind the green. Maybe it works with a 90 wedge hitting 75-80 yds power...at least with PING or TM wedges that particular shot is one of the easiest on the course.

PS: Glad I did this experiment...just scored a 190 yds hole in one! ;-))

That's likely to do with lower end wedges. They fly lower, spin less, so when coming out of sand, they run.

It just maybe a matter of upgrading to higher-end wedges
