thank you in advance people....i`m soon to be level79 TM...hittin level 59 Ping G25`s...level 78 cleveland 588 wedges...level71 Nike 20XI-X balls.....i`m leaning on getting the Nike VR forged at level 85, but are the level83 Ping G25`s, which i can obviously get 2 levels sooner potentially as good as the Nike`s?????   2nd question, is it worth upgrading to the Level81 Nike20XI-X balls when available??? 100 more credits a sleeve, ok if they will help my game,  will they???? thx again for your experienced help.....stevie1026

I would look at these with an eye on the 97 version when you get there. Learn them now and you'll appreciate the difference then.

No. The cheapest Nike is more than enough, IMO. The 33 Callaway is a great bargain if you want decent performance and want to save a few credits.

first, thank you YankeeJim for taking the time to respond.....will stick with the Nike L71 balls and try a sleeve of the Callaway`s you recommended. i take it by you`re response that i shouldn't consider the Ping G25`s at level 83 and wait for the Nike forged?   thx again for your help....stevie1026

I would but for reasons that might not be obvious to you now. I made Legend with the G10 version of those G25's that you have and I never had a 3W-went with 4 wedges-and used that 33 Callaway.  You're in the enviable position of driver/wedge golf from the closer tees and that 3W doesn't get used as often as a 4th wedge would.

I stayed with that Callaway for a long time until the Vapors came out. That's when I switched to the ball you're using now because I found that the club carry was very close to the club rating with that ball. Makes it easy to feel your way around the courses. The Vapors are the 97 Nikes souped up and the 97s were the souped up version of the 85s. See where this is going now?

I say jump on the Nikes when you can because eventually you'll wind up with the 97s and Vapors after that.  :-)

thx again YankeeJim....i played the level 50 something Nikes, hit some good ones, but boy, were my bad ones bad. Thats when i went to the forum and saw it was almost unanimous that the Pings(level59) were the way to go until 80`s level. My question, and confusion stems from wondering why the "souped up" version at Level85 of the Level50 something Nike`s is preferred over the "souped up" version (level83) of the Level 59  pings. That said, i posted for advice, and i am taking yours....i will wait for the Nike`s at level 85. I love my Level74 M1 taylorMade driver, but after a display i witnessed yesterday, i am jumping on the Level79 TaylorMade slider later today, only other coming option is the Calloway Big  Bertha at level 82, doing the comparison it is not worth the wait....tyvm again for your help and knowledge....stevie1026

That is due to Nike 85s having better precision and spin than Ping 83s.

Regarding the drivers, I had the older Callaway version at L83.The difference between the 2 would be better carry with L83 Callaway. Not sure if this one plays similar but the older Xhot was imo the best 282 driver(less forgiveness than others though) along with L89 SLDR.L88 BB is better in low wind but struggles in headwind.

L89 and L79 SLDR have the same make and specs but L79 just didnt seem as powerful.
