Just a note for anyone who might find themselves in a boat like mine...a wise man told me..."the L59 pings will take you where you want to go"....me being not so wise, i decided at level79 to give the L79 rockets a shot, thinking they might take me to legend before L85 and the Nike`s. For me, it wasn't pretty....first iron, i think a 6, hit it to 6"....good start you might say.....(dinged it) , after that, forget the hole, i had a hard time finding greens....left,right, long or short, 2 nines in the 40`s and, (at least i`m a little wiser than i was earlier in my career, and i hadn't sold them) it was back to the L59 Pings until L85. Now i play on an Macbook Pro and I'm a finger/finger pad player so i guess forgiveness will always be a issue, something in my opinion that the L79 RB`s have NONE of...of course, just my opinion...your mileage may vary....hit em straight and roll em true  people....stevie1026

I'm sticking out the Pings till 90 because the 85's don't look that impressive. Need that 4.5 spin.

MrFunnyWobbl.....good comparisons if you research the forums-(L85 Nike Forged vs L90 TM RSi`s. We can compare when we get there, (and to legend soon!) I took the time to review your sticks,i have a couple observations, hope you don't mind. The L74 TM M1 driver is FAR superior to the L48 R1and easy to hit, loved it, went to the L79 TM slider, great driver also. We will need the length soon. I played L39 TM wedges until L80, then bought the L80 clevelands...for me very sweet wedges. Gotta love that L70 Versa putter!!! I may not even change for the L86 versa when i get there! Get to legend MFW....i`m right behind you.Take care...stevie1026

When used with a ball with decent spin, like a Cally L33,  the Nike mid-irons will stop better than the Pings.  The Rsi2's will also stop the longer irons even better, provided you are on or very near the ding.   You lose a lot of the spin on missed ding shots.

For some of us, going from the 4.0 meter speed of the Pings to the 3.0 speed of the Rsi2 can take some time for adjustment.  I kept my Nikes when I got the Rsi2's and will use them for a few weeks when I find that I am losing my swing timing.

    Hope that helps.

It reflects the confounding nature of most all iron sets we have in the higher levels. You speak of adjustment as a handy , albeit, annoying interruption that can be made to be harmoniously commingled with a players natural timing. With time and practice It never did for me. I am not a 2.5, 3.0, 4.0 or 4.5....ever. My reflexes are tuned to 3.5 period. And to think that the #1 iron set, used by almost every Top Gun at WGT. (the Vapor 100) is at 3.5...umm,  I am not deaf, it speaks clearly to me....or, you will see an iron set with perfect spec's for you in every way, before you notice it is med trajectory. It is a stunning brain-tickler to use your imagination and intellect to try to figure out why ?

It all boils down to what you feel more comfortable using.  You can ask 100 players & get 100 different answers.  I suggest to wait for the next free rental & try the 1's that is in your level.  Just me 2 cents.

    Lily,

I agree that there is a reason the Vapor L100 irons at 3.5 meter are so popular.  From the few people I know personally that use them, they seem to be awesome clubs.  The problem is what to do until a player reaches that level.

My main point is that  I can only speak to my first hand experience.  I'm at an age where my "natural" swing timing varies from one day to the next.  I freely admit that I am a "Dinosaur", as I refer to it.  I've remarked before  that "Time and Gravity" take a toll.   I have good days and bad days, like most people.  The difference is that on my bad days my timing is much worse mostly do to my age and health.

Last fall when I first bought the RSi2's, I was more consistent, and was quickly moved up to Legend after finishing well in a few WGT TM tournaments.  I could play with both a Nike L61 with 3.5 meter and a Cally L33 or L39 ball with 2.5 meter.  In fact I often used a WGT G13-SV ball for practice rounds.  Now that ability is gone, and I need to use a 3.5 meter ball most of the time.

I feel that I do play better with a 3.5 meter speed irons than the 3.0, but I like the performance of the RSi2's much better than the NIke L85 VR's.  So I've compromised some.  I sometimes think that I may get to a point where I will need  the Max Meter L94 irons with the 4.5 meter.  If so, I will make the change, as i enjoy the social aspects of this game, especially playing AS with friends.  So be it.

Others have commented about being able to adjust their swing timing by practicing with a faster ball for example.  That used to work for me somewhat, but no so much now.  My usual cure is to go back the the L85 Nikes until I can play consistently with a L33 Cally with 2.5 meter, then I change back to the RSi2 irons.

I have always advocated that people rent before buying clubs.  That is especially true when talking about the higher level clubs.  Taking advantage of the free rental when leveling up makes the most sense.

Bottom line is that you have to find out which equipment works for you personally.  Take care my friend.

I appreciate your input on my clubs. I agree about buying the wedges, I should upgrade, but it's more a money thing than anything, I don't like spending a ton on this game. As far as the driver goes, I'm doing alright with my driver right now, so I'll wait till I get higher and buy a legend higher level driver. My goal is basically to only have to replace my clubs once more for each club, then I'll just use those forever. I just bought the new Putter recently, It'll probably be my last putter forever.

    Plan is...

    Level 90 Rsi Irons

Driver - ? Probably some low 90 driver

    The 76-80 Clevelands

    3WD - ?

    Just got the putter.
