Most local courses even from the tips with the drivers we have would be driver and wedge if not driver and putter. They would make the game an eagle fest and create many paper champions.

I see some people would like to have longer courses, with at least 7000 yards,  that could challenge the top WGT players. Not to worry. WGT already has stated that have started work on the 2017 US Open course: Erin Hills. It is only 7812 yards !!! from the back tees:

    SCORECARD

Do you remember that The Olympic, Lake course, has a par 5 with more than 600 yards?

Erin Hills has 4 of them ! Good luck to everyone trying to get an eagle there.

Any local course of more than 7,100 yds from the tips will do...

Exactly.  100% of WGT players would be more then satisfied with any new course.

Do you know any? I don't.

Don't get me wrong, my line is different to that:

Only courses with more than 7.100 yds (which about equals Merion) will have a standing here, against the skills and power available. PB has 7.040 - not quite enough I'm afraid.

I'm also afraid that there aren't many "local" courses of that length, it's more common to those in the Pro circuits.

In Erin Hills, BTW, the second tees have 7.100 yds ;)

Augusta on here would see some embarassingly low scores

Too many short irons from fairways wide enough that you could parallel park an aircraft carrier on.

Now, the Hootie version from 10 years ago would have been a good test here. With far more trees and much narrower fairways

There are several golf courses in the US over 8,000 yards.  One of them would be nice to have.
