    Hello Everyone,

Found WGT when searching or a Golf sim. ad have to say I m really liking it so far, however I was just wondering if other players ( New and Vets, of WGT ) find the grass/rough/greens, really off when it come to the roll of the ball.

I know I am new to this game but it just seems like the greens run really fast when one thinks it shouldn't and hen you think the ball should bite a little bit in the rough it finds the only grass that rolls like glass.

The balls behavior seems erratic at times, again it could be just me and WGT being a new experience but I feel the balls behavior just doesn't seem ( On Par, pardon the pun ) wit the grass/rough/ and greens at times.

Cheers, and I look forward to more tee time.

    Sincerely, Robert

You're playing with free balls and clubs. They have zero bite. Once you level up and put a little money (or time doing surveys and other offers), you can buy better clubs and balls. They stop on a dime ;-)

Better clubs and balls aren't going to stop that roll out from rough, though. It's actually the way it's supposed to be.

Oh yes Rob, everyone here has experience with it and it is true. The free starter clubs, while playable ( i used them and the starter ball for my first 6 months) I see you started with the putter upgrade, which is fine. If you go with wedges next (the driver seems to be more attractive) but the wedges; better wedges allow for the most dramatic and rapid lowering of scores. Good, new sticks bring amazing fun and more interest to the player. Get as many club & ball upgrades you can afford, it is money well spent. Also, pay absolutely no attention to the caddy. He is very simple minded.

Have a ball here, it is a wonderful game !

    Hi Robert,

two crucial details to watch as a beginner from my POV:

    - observe green speed. It's indicated on the upper right corner when you are on the green, and it changes a lot in your situation, depending on which tier "leads" the speed and sometimes also how a game was set up.

    - check and change club&shot selection on short approach shots, especially from Rough. Frequently, a Chip or Pitch is proposed but 100% inadequate. In case of doubt, change to full or punch shots!

And a two Pfennig tip: If you play more than once a week and want more fun and help, apply to a large and busy Country Club!

True, however the play is very consistent. Just learn/memorize how the ball reacts in those particular situations. And different shots (full, punch, flop, pitch, chip) can produce different (better or worse) results.

Just lots to learn to get good at this game.

That banged the nail squarely on the head.

When I first discovered this game I played a few rounds of CTTH, figured it was next to impossible to get anywhere near to hitting a green and went away again.

It was a few months later I decided to give it another go and actually learned how to play the game.  And it sure was worth it.

To the OP: Stick with it, you'll go through times when you feel like packing in but go through them, the game is worth the effort it takes to become good at it.

...and, Robert, don't buy that Spider putter - save the credits for one of at least 500 cr!
