  Hole 13 Par 3 on merion

  Since fews months i play the tee shot with 8 iron punch shot when the flag is at the back of the green

  For the spin depend of the wind. For exemple with this replay i play with 50% backspin and the ball goes in the hole.

  Hole in one 28  hole with a punch shot

  The 8i punch on 13 was discovered during the VUSO when the course first came out.  :-)

  Very nice shot. I will have to remember that setup. Punch shots are highly underated.

  I play punch shot with my wedge since long time, but for the irons i try  his kind of shot  since only fews months with  good result.

  Jim, i'm sure lots of players know that since long time ago, but me i'm a slow learner and i just want to share with the community my first hole in one (with a punch shot) if you allows me lol

  Yeah, that's about the only shot I play on that hole with the back pin ... keeps it down low and it rolls so nicely up to the pin the majority of the time.

  By the way on a long par 3 hole 3 256  yards on merion, i almost made an hole in one with the punch shot driver full backspin, the ball finish 4 inch from the hole.

  That would have been a great shot lol

  Interesting, never thought to try that. Did you take a full swing?

  I use this shot when i have face wind (when the 3 woods is too short) and always full backspin

  It's a uphill green, the ball roll (with the low trajectory of the  punch shot) but  not too far if we have the right power.

  This shot is still more easy with a slow speed green.
