So, it was unfortunate enough on #9 of Oakmont that I hit the front fringe just right that my ball exploded over the green (See my replay titled "I hate this game").  I'm so far away on the back of the green that my ball or my person is visible.  So, Im trying to line up a chip when I can't even see me or the ball.

Actually, I'd say you got lucky.

I would never chip that or anything.... Seems like you had about 53 yards left or so...so take out a wedge, full bs, and hit it close and make par.

If it stayed on green, only god knows how many shots you'd need to get home. Wow :)

I also hate, not this game, but this course, particularly the 9th hole. In the tournament today, I 5-putted. Now for some unknown reason, I've risen through the ranks from hack to pro but Oakmont... I'm still a hack but did well today and managed 103. Can someone explain to me why I regularly hit greens in regulation but the damn ball will NOT stay put. No backspin? Yes, no ruddy backspin, not for a player of my ilk who has had to do with rudimentary clubs. Hit a perfect chip (to get a nice 'excellent'  showing) and the ball moves 0 yards! So if perfect isn't good epough, what's better?

My own conclusion? It's a rich man's game. If I've been  promoted to pro and risen to a level of 54, why do I continually see bottom left 'WTG Beginner'? Are you going to tell me I'm too tight-fisted to buy better clubs? Maybe I need to do to get round in an incredible 55 with magic clubs. FIFTY-FIVE????

55 in totally unrealistic and ruins this software if people can manage that.

I probably still would have chipped. :)

Oakmont greens are hurting me.  I can only imagine what the tournament greens will be like.  Such a learning curve to this game.....
