I've been away from the game for about 2 yrs. I recently got a better computer and we even have 1gbs internet service so my game experience is miles above what it used to be.

I've always loved match play but it seems every time I want to play, there's nobody out there. I try almost every day and in the last month I've completed maybe 4 9-hole matches and had my opponent bail on another 3-4. For the most part, I just don't get any matches. I'll click "again" again and again and nothing.

So, has match play died as a preferred game here on WGT?

Ive noticed this too...

I believe there is a lot less activity on this site than there used to be. In fact there is a thread somewhere in the forums where someone has been posting wgt web traffic metrics. And indeed it is declining - significantly.

The influx of cross platform players is probably hurting both. You simply can't play multi with them, and although accessible to them, the forums aren't that easy to get to, and who wants to thumb key a diatribe?

As luck would have it, I actually got a 9-hole match in yesterday afternoon. It took a while to get a hit, but the guy stayed and played.

It was a very lucrative match as well. I sunk a 33 ft eagle putt on the par 5 "water" hole at Congressional (sorry, don't remember if it's #7 or #8) to seal the deal and the win advanced me to the Legend tier as well.

Gotta love it!
