Yes you can. In the game client just select stroke play and pick the course you want to play. In the next screen you will see where it says Ranked. Just click on one of the arrows and you can change it to a practice round.

Are you by any chance playing on a mobile app?
If so, the path to single play may be different...
On any platform, ranked and tournament rounds may be used as 9 / 18 hole practice, the latter providing more XPs towards the individual levels.
