In Stroke Tourneys, I do not understand how players can shoot in the 50's on 18 holes.  I play with the same level players - Tour Masters/Legends - in regular play and nobody ever posts these kind of scores.

Maybe it is just me - but there must be a secret trick - I can consistently beat or contend against players - shooting 5-8 under and Then see players log Tourney scores that are unbelievable.

    Am I missing something?

i know for myself that in mutliplayer games i tend not to focus to hard but in tournies i will give all my focus to the round itself so more focus will tend to get better results plus in single player mode you can take all the time you need for shots compared to multi player games where you are timed.

There are many things that lead to a  person being able to shoot scores in the 50s fo 18 holes. Yes equipment makes a big difference. The type of ball also helps. Learning to chip, pitch and flop with precision is crucial. The last part of many good players game to come around is putting. To shoot in the 50 your one putt percentage will be in the upper 50. Many of the best players have one putt percentages in the 67-70 percent range. Also, the better players have played 5 to 10 thousand rounds. You have played less than 800. They know every bounce and break. Yes it can be done. Most can and will not be able. Just enjoy the game, play some alternate shot with better players and you will learn a lot.
